In WordPress dashboard go to appearance submenu and click on customize.

After clicking on customize you will in theme customizer. 

Here you have to click on Background Image .

Here you have to choose the background image.

you can also set your background image preset type, image position, size, scroll with page etc.

Click on the publish button to publish background image.
